Day 1

Day 1 Registration 7:30 - 8:00

Course: Interpreting the Florida Existing Building Code
Credit: 3 Hours
Description: This course provides an in-depth discussion of the FBC-Existing Building Code. Topics include application of the code, classification of work, repairs, additions and the three levels of alteration.

Time: 11:00 - 12:00 (Noon)
Course: Workers Compensation
Credit: 1 Hour
Description: This course is designed to familiarize participants with Workers. Compensation laws. Topics include workers and employers rights, coverage limits, liability, the role of the building department, workplace safety and penalties.

Time: 1:00 - 2:00
Course: Workplace Safety
Credit: 1 Hour
Description: It is the intent of this course to familiarize participants with construction job site safety concepts and practices. OSHA requirements and responsibilities as well as specific hazards and injury prevention techniques are addressed.

Time: 2:00 - 4:00
Course: BCAIB & CILB Laws & Rules
Credit: 2 Hour
Description: Designed to present the requirements of the recent legislation, this course addresses the requirements for the mandate.

Course: The Florida Accessibility Code & Fair Housing Guidelines
Credit: 2 Hours
Description: This course is designed to provide a review of the Florida Accessibility Code requirements and an in-depth look at the requirements of the Fair Housing Guidelines.

Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Course: Advanced Mitigation Retrofits
Credit: 2 Hours
Description: This course provides specific information regarding the strengthening of pre-FBC site constructed single family homes against hurricane force winds as required under the FBC.Existing Building Volume.

Time: 1:00 - 3:00
Course: Residential Building Planning
Credit: 2 Hours
Description: This course provides an overview of FBC-R Ch. 3 with detailed Instruction on the requirements for structural integrity, life and fire safety, and livability for the occupants of a single family dwelling.

Time 3:00 - 4:00 Course: Ethics in Construction
Credit: 1 Hour
Description: Ethical behavior has been moved to the forefront in society today. Construction professionals will be presented with real life scenarios intended to illustrate what is or is not acceptable in the current
socio-economic times.
